Chick-Fil-A location to shut down for 3 weeks

Serenity Now!

imagesAlright, I have a morning breakfast briefing at 7:00 am, followed by a brainstorming session to see what next year’s event should look like, lunch with the folks from the local not for profit, then a recap of our 5k that quickly carries into an internal meeting at 3:00 pm at work to catch up on the items that I missed out on in the morning.  Development council meeting at 5:30 pm and then dinner with my networking group and then a night cap with an old friend of mine.

What’s on tap for tomorrow… *panting vigorously and about to pass out due to exhaustion*

Stop right there.  Put the phone down, close the calendar & the laptop and repeat after me, “Serenity Now.”  Ok, that may not help, but take a breath or two.

On average, my calendar is pretty jam-packed.  As part of my position at C.H. Dean as Corporate Relations Manager, my job is to get out in the community and be a cheerleader for the region.  That comes with its own set of pros and cons.  Usually the cons are the time commitment and always being on the go.

Fortunately, I am at a time in my life that I am able to do this.  I do not have kids or a serious relationship, and when my evenings aren’t filled with running around on the golf course or at the gym (BWHAHAHA), I am usually out networking.

But what about those that may not have a lot of free time.  How do you balance all the things on your work plate as well as on your social plate?

Pro Tip #7 – You are not going to change the world overnight

This is something I have to continually tell myself.  I want to do so much and help as much as I can, but when all is said and done, you can only do so much in a day.  As I mentioned in “Passion Speaks Louder than Actions,” define what you are most passionate about.  Then set goals that are attainable and measurable with realistic time frames.

Dayton was not built in a day.
